RIPLEY EARNS HER NW3 TITLE...ONLY THE THIRD RIDGEBACK TO ACHIEVE THIS LEVEL!
Ripley and her owner Michele Ruest have been having a blast training in Nosework. Although Ripley is a show quality bitch, she has never been shown but instead is Michele's companion. They discovered Nosework as something fun to do that would keep Ripley's bright mind engaged and her energy level manageable, and just look at what they have accomplished....just by having fun together! She clearly knows that her job is to search for something specific. Watch her indicate when she finds the scent she is looking for, and notice how Michele guides her through the search area and knows how to read Ripley's body language and cues. I am so proud of this fantastic accomplishment. Ripley is Symetri's Here We Go Again, CGC, NW3. Symetri's Echo In My Heart gives his handler Stacy Threlfall some love after winning WD/BOW for a 4-point major in Springfield, MA on 8/22/2015. NEW AKC CHAMPION & POINTS FOR PUPPIES!
June 14-15, 2014 in Morgantown, WV: On Saturday 9-month-old "Ari" was piloted to his first point by owner Laurie Owen, awarded by breeder-judge Kammi Hefner. Ari has breathtaking movement and the promise of what he will grow to be is evident to all who meet him. Keep both eyes open when Ari is around!! "Tau" earned his AKC conformation Championship Sunday. He was awarded WD/BOW for his final Championship point by esteemed breeder-judge Ruth Eneix....thank you Ruth for recognizing my little powerhouse! Ruth also found our fun-loving party girl "Penny" in the puppy class and awarded her WB for her first point. Just 9 months old and beautifully owner-handled by Laureena Teets....girls just wanna have fun! It was a super weekend with friends old and new, and beautiful dogs.
MAY = LURE COURSING FUN!
May 17-18, 2014 the pack headed south to Reidsville, NC for the AKC trials held by MAHA. I love the trials this club puts on; they are always well-run and the site is fantastic with plenty of course options. Tau, Altheda, Roxette, and Prada all ran in the trials. Altheda won the Specials stake both days, picking up points towards her LCX and MC titles. Roxette placed second to Altheda in Specials, earning legs towards her MC title. Little Basenji Prada decided that rolling in the horse poop was a great idea...that way the "bunnies" couldn't smell her coming after them! Prada is always good entertainment.
The real superstar this weekend was Tau, who won Best of Breed from the Open stake both days, picking up 4 points towards his FCh and 2 legs towards his MC title. Both days he ran off against Altheda, and the runs were thrilling to watch as they are so perfectly matched.
Below is a photo gallery from this weekend; thanks so much to Trevor Pfeiffer for the great action shots!

The Symetri RRs test HIGH CONFIDENCE CLEAR for inherited deafness!
All of the breeding dogs in my house (even the retired ones!) were recently submitted to the DNA database of ProjectDOG to participate in ongoing research to identify the genetic markers for inherited deafness. Although the research is in the middle stages and not yet final, 6 of my 7 RRs tested CLEAR for hereditary deafness with a high level of confidence in these preliminary findings. Research is ongoing and I hope that a reliable marker test can be developed in the near future. Learn more about this research at ProjectDog.

PRADA EARNS A NEW TITLE!
March 14 & 15 found the Symetri pack doing one of our all-time favorite activities: lure coursing at the SHOT trials in Williamsburg, VA! Ridgebacks Altheda, Roxette, Tau, and Summer all had solid runs and nice placements, earning points and legs toward higher level titles. But it was my little Basenji Rock Star who came away with a new title. On Saturday Prada won BOB over the Field Champoins and earned a 5-point major towards her own FC title. On Sunday there were no other Basenjis running, but her two lovely runs earned her the Senior Courser title! She is now CH Jasiri-Sukari Just My Style, SC. What a wonderful weekend running dogs, meeting friends old and new, and doing what the dogs love.
Meet two of our rising stars: Ari and Penny!
These exquisite youngsters are from the 2013 Leo x Altheda litter. "Ari" is Symetri's Heart of a Warrior, co-owned with Laura Owen and handled by Laura. "Penny" is Symetri's Daughter of Fortune, co-owned and handled by Laureena Teets.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In 2014 we will be focusing more on performance events than on dog shows. Since my love of dogs and dog events began in the obedience ring, 2014 will be a year of going back to my roots.
2013 Highlights...
TAU TAKES WINNERS DOG IN WINSTON-SALEM.
After a 5-month hiatus from the ring, Tau earned WD in Winston-Salem on 11/9 under judge Barbara Alderman for 1 point. Tau needs just 2 singles to finish his Championship. He is also halfway to his Field Championship, and I fully expect he will join the ranks of my wonderful Dual Champion RRs in 2014.

MORE BIG LURE COURSING NEWS...
May 18 & 19 the Symetri pack was once again running in NC at the MAHA trials. Tau was the superstar this weekend, completing his SC title and picking up BOTH of his majors towards his Field Championship. He won BOB on Sunday as well; Tau is starting to shine on the field! On Saturday my lovely Veteran Summer won the Veteran stake on a long course with a couple of grueling hills thrown in! So proud of my beautiful girl who can still run like the wind. I scratched Altheda from the trial on Saturday but on Sunday she turned in a super performance to place 2nd in the Specials stake behind the little dynamo, Maisie, owned by Elisa Strahle. It is so much fun to watch those girls run together! And also running for legs towards her SC title was little Prada, in her blingy metallic coursing jacket!
TWO DAYS, TWO NEW CHAMPIONS!
Roxette the athlete!
March 16-17, 2013: The Symetri Ridgebacks were winning both in the ring and on the field! In York, PA Tonka took Winners Dog on Saturday, earning a 4-point major to finish his AKC conformation Championship! He is now CH Symetri's Big Drama.
On Sunday the home pack competed in Williamsburg, VA at the SHOT lure coursing trial, sweeping away the competition! Altheda won the Field CH stake and another BOB; she is turning into a really consistent, competitive courser, a gal to be reckoned with on the field! Roxette won the Open stake to complete her Field Championship! Roxette is another wonderful runner, always making Allie work for her wins. She is now BIF FC Symetri Listen To Your Heart, SC. Youngster Tau came in second to Roxette for another leg towards his SC title. And litle Basenji girl Prada turned in a good effort in her very first trial against competition.

SYMETRI DOGS LOVE LURE COURSING...
Lure coursing. A special kind of insanity.
At the MAHA lure coursing trials in Reidsville, NC, Feb. 23-24, 2013. Altheda won BOB on Saturday in the pouring rain and sloppy mud, as seen in this photo, while Roxette placed 2nd in Open. On Sunday Altheda placed 2nd in the Specials stake, while Roxette and Tau placed 3rd and 4th in the Open stake (respectively). Yes, we really drove 3.5 hours to race in these conditions, but we had a great time and it was worth the drive! Altheda is now halfway to both her MC and LCX titles, while Tau picked up his first leg toward a SC title.
BACK-TO-BACK MAJORS FOR TAU IN RICHMOND!
Tau earns his 3rd major under judge Dr. Dowling.
Jan. 26 & 27, 2013; Richmond, VA: Symetri's Brass In Pocket, JC took WD/BOW both days he was entered at the Middle Peninsula KC of VA! Tau was awarded major wins by judges Gretchen Bernardini and Dr. Dan Dowling. He also competed in the Bred-By-Exhibitor Group competition on Saturday and earned a 3rd place in a very large, competitive Hound BBE group under judge Patrick Byrne. Tau now has a total of 3 majors and 12 points toward his Championship, plus two group placements.
This exciting young dog will be seen in the ring, and on the lure coursing field in 2013; he is also learning how to track. Tau is a correctly moderate, in-standard boy with gorgeous breed type. He has a sweet, willing disposition and a wonderful work ethic. Check out his photos on the "Meet the Boys" page, and stop back here soon for his latest win photos!
On Sunday at the show in Richmond, Tau's littermate "Tonka" also took Reserve Winners Dog...these outstanding brothers are making a splash in the ring!

2011 Highlights...
Flag earns his Agility title...and the RRCUS Versatility Certificate!
Kate & Flag w/ their ribbons
I am so proud and excited to announce that my very special boy earned the RRCUS Versatility Certificate today in style!! “Flag” finished his NJP title today, giving him the last piece of the VC puzzle. He is just one month short of his tenth birthday, demonstrating that quality stands the test of time. Pending AKC & RRCUS verification, he will be:
U-GrCh, Am & Can CH Symetri’s Flying Colors, CDX, RN, NJP, CGC, TT, VC
(Scroll down to watch the video of today's winning run)
I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported Flag and I on this incredible journey. Special mention for the awesome Kate Eldredge, who trained and handled Flag to this agility title. Kate’s many impressive accomplishments can be seen at her website: http://coyote-run.net/kate-eldredge.html And also to our obedience instructor, Dottie Hamblin of Dottie’s Dog School in Syracuse, NY. And to our many friends who cheered us on, cheered me up, and believed in us along the way…you know who you are, and so do I.
Flag has achieved high honors in everything we have undertaken. He is the first RR ever to earn a Rally-obedience title, in just 3 trials with one class placement. Both his CD and CDX were finished with scores above 190 and placements in every class over Border Collies, Goldens, and many other “traditional” obedience breeds. He was ranked the #8 RRCUS obedience RR in 2005, and #4 in 2007 (#3 ranking by Front & Finish); these are the years he finished his obedience titles. In achieving this latest title he once again stood out from the crowd, earning the NAJ with two second-place ribbons, and today with a first-place win, which seems even more impressive when you know that he did not begin seriously training for the agility ring until he was over 9 years old!
In the breed ring Flag finished easily, winning his majors at RRCUS-supported shows and taking several BOB wins over specials along the way. He won WD/BOW at the Canadian Regional Specialty handled by my good friend Kaz Paszko under judge Ray Filburn and finished in Canada very quickly with Kaz. He has sired several lovely litters and many of Flag’s puppies have his willingness to work.
Flag is an amazing boy—together we have achieved a number of my personal dreams and goals. Tonight I am just bursting with pride and love for this very special dog.

Kate Eldredge and Flag on 5/15/2011
On 5/15/2011 at the SOTC agility trial in Syracuse, NY Flag earned his second qualifying score and a 2nd place in the class!! Flag is: U-GrCh, Am/Can CH Symetri's Flying Colors, CDX, RN, CGC, TT. Just one more "Q" and Flag will have earned his NAJ-P title, AND the RRCUS Versatility Certificate!! He could not have gotten so far without Kate's training and handling, a very big Thank You to Kate--they are a good team and have a lot of fun together. Watch the video of Flag's 2nd place run below...
Flag excels in Agility!
Kate & Flag show their winnings!
Flag is on his way to earning the prestigious RRCUS Versatility Certificate!! Proving that quality stands the test of time, Flag did not begin training in Agility until February 2011 when he was 9.5 years old! With the expert training and handling of our friend Kate Eldredge, he earned his first NAJ Preferred agility leg on April 3, 2011 with a second place in his class! I am THRILLED that Flag will earn the VC by beginning a rigorous sport at an advanced age; the VC is an elite designation for those dogs that show true versatility, workabillity, and conformation. Visit the RRCUS website to view the requirements for earning a VC. And please take a moment to visit Kate's website by clicking here.
